Hawaii 2026 {Kailua and termite swarms!}

 Snails have pretty shells in Hawaii!

After this most of the family headed to California Pizza Kitchen but we just grabbed some Leonards and McDonalds and headed back to the house

We were chilling in the house watching TV and we glanced out the window to see so many bugs flying in the outside lights.  Then we noticed huge frogs outside eating the bugs.  Then we noticed the house was filling with bugs from the kitchen windows (Konrad had actually walked outside as well and brought some back in with him when he came back in.  Turns out we had a termite swarm on our hands.  We turned off all the lights in the house and then tried to kill all of the bugs that were inside.  They were attracted to the TV and the fridge light.  

Once everyone else got home we told them all to keep their lights off, but Richard needed to pack b/c he was flying home early the next morning so they had to have lights on.  Pretty soon their room was full of termites.  It was awful.  

I messaged our airbnb host and he told us to turn off that lights and to not panic b/c this was normal.  haha, didn't feel normal to us.  Eventually, with all the lights off they left our house and went to the street lights and we all went to bed.  Michelle and Richard left for a hotel near the airport b/c their room was so infested.  My dad hunted down some bug spray and went to town in their room and around all the window sills and doorframes.  

Our screens looked like this for days b/c before knowing that baby terminates lose their wings very easily I was flicking them off the screen and their bodies would shoot off but their wings remained on the screen.  

So gross!!!

Hawaii 2026 {Morning Walks, Sharks Cove, Shave Ice, Monk Seal, Kahuku, Sunset at Sunset}

 This tree that I would see on my walk was so crazy.  It's almost like there is a throne at the bottom 

I love these white birds 

And the roosters/chickens that are everywhere!  I had a symphony of cock-a-doodle-doos each morning as I walked 

Sharks Cove for snorkeling: 

I didn't snorkel but I did see a starfish!

And we heard there was a turtle over on the other side of the beach so we walked over and hung out with it for a bit

There was a monk seal that we spied as we drove back to our airbnb and so we parked at the house and then walked back to observe it for a bit.  

we got there in time to see her make her way back into the water
