As always, we spent our Memorial Weekend at the Molen's Cabin on Lake Cushman. We loved every minute! Well maybe except for the minutes spent on the harder-to-put-to-bed-than-normal baby we had on our hands.
It was beautiful and sunny when we got there Friday evening.
Konrad swept off the roof and cleaned out the gutters:

S'mores. The new big square marshmallows roasted up nicely. Not that I got to eat one. Konrad and I were in the middle of a no sweets challenge. Neither of us caved all weekend. So strong. :)

Saturday.
Despite the cooler temps and the lack of sunshine, the girls, and Sawyer, spent tons of time in the water. It always starts with them playing on the beach in clothes. Then the pants get rolled up. Then they step to far or fall off a log they were balancing on and then the swim suits come out.

Konrad ended up kayaking out to them and then hooking them to his kayak and pulling them all the way across the lake to the playground. Mel and I enjoyed a nice hour or two on a quiet beach (Cam was sleeping and Sawyer was running an errand with Aaron). We joked that the girls enjoyed all their favorite parts about the cabin...paddle boat and playground, if they'd only had a s'more in their hand it would have be perfect! :)
Aaron met up with them at the park and drove all the girls home but Sam and Kimber.

Then the wet suits came out and they lasted in the water for a very long time.

Sunday.
Our annual hike on the Staircase Loop. Side note...don't ever take a stroller on a trail called Staircase Loop. If only I had remembered the name of the trail before we started! The first few years we did this hike we went on one side of the river. Then the past 2 or 3 years we did the trail on the other side of the river. I hadn't done the "original" side of the trail in years and had forgotten that there are many "stairs" on that side. There is now a bridge connecting the two trails and we were able to actually do the loop this year (they did it last year as well, but 3 week old Cam and I didn't go that year) Konrad and I got a workout carrying it up the mountain. But Cam stayed dry and happy the whole time.
Konrad loves skipping rocks so he brought Ziploc bags to collect the super smooth river rocks to take back to the cabin, then they ended up being a protector from the rain as well....

Camryn LOVES people in hoods. If you want to see her smile big and get a good snuggle out of her, put your hood on.
