Gleaking

Okay, so I really don't know if that's how you spell it, but here's my question:

Is gleaking better than spitting?

For those of you who don't know what gleaking is (I didn't until I became a Crabtree) it typically happens after you eat something sour. Konrad then says you can shoot...literally it shoots...saliva out of where-ever saliva comes from. He claims b/c it hasn't been sitting in your mouth, getting all nasty, that it isn't a bad thing.

My most-the-time-wonderful-that-I-wouldn't-trade-for-a-second husband gleaked in my face today...isn't that the same as spitting???

He may look innocent, but don't let him deceive you!

Going "Yellow" ALL DAY LONG!!!

It was a great day in the Crabtree household. Miss Alli didn't have an accident all day long!!! She even told me 3 times that she had to go! Whoo-hoo! I'm sure tomorrow might be different, but hey, at least we're heading in the right direction!

Plus - only 3 more days until Konrad comes home...that means 9 days have passed and I honestly have not wanted to harm any of my children in any way. (don't worry I just knocked on wood). They have all been so good. They did go to bed a few minutes early tonight b/c they were arguing with eachother, but nothing out of control. I don't know how I (or them) got so lucky...but we've survived! I guess I shouldn't be too excited yet, there are still 3 more days....

"I Need To Go Yellow" said Alli

Many of you are asking what in the world...so was I. Then I remembered she spent the morning yesterday with her potty-training friend, Bailee. So is better to say 'pee' or 'yellow'.

Either way, thanks Bailee for making me laugh!

Can we PLEASE just get a runny nose????

Why is it that my children, well my one child, seem to bring home the nastiest "sicknesses" out there. She has now had lice (yes, I'm admitting to the world that my child has had lice) TWICE, did you hear that...TWICE!. Now she has pink-eye (for like the 25th time, I'm sure). Why does she attract the yucky stuff? Can we please just have a cough...a runny nose...something a little less contagious? And of course it ruined my day of fun I had planned. Aerobics (which, yes, I think is fun), scrapbooking with Darcy all day, going to the Children's museum in Factoria (b/c it's free from 5-8 every Friday night) and eating some yummy Cold Stone (Konrad sent us gift cards to Cold Stone for Valentines Day). Now we'll be going to the doctor and then being bored! Plus, now I'm adding one more day of "no school" to the already too long week of no school...all with my husband in Texas! I HATE apartment buildings!
Whoa, not what I was expecting to come out, but maybe I'll be able to have a better day now that I got that all out of my system!
Anyways...sorry to all my friends who's children I watched last night, hopefully we didn't hand out pink eye with all our fun!

Two Funny Alli Stories

1. Yesterday while we were sitting in the car waiting for Kimber, Sam, and Colin to come out of school Alli threw a wipe on the ground. She wanted me to look at it but I couldn't see it, it must have been under my seat or something. So I told her "Sorry Al, I can't see it" she replied "See Mom, just look in my eyes, then you can see it" as she was trying really hard to touch her eyeball to show me the wipe she threw on the ground.
She did the same thing today about seeing something else...obviously whatever she sees stays in her eyes, so you just have to look there to see it!
2. Just a few minutes ago she started singing..."Jingle Bells, Grandpa smells..." it was great! Completely unexpected...obviously she's heard the batman smells version but had to add in her own line. Wonder which Grandpa she's talking about?????

I wish I had a recent picture of her to post...but Konrad has the camera in Texas (that's a whole other story, nothing funny about it at all!...if you want to know anything about stolen property, no electricity except for in the bathroom, shotguns needed, and sheriff's sitting in the parking lot, let me know...)

Anyways I love my little Alli even though she drives me nuts with all her dramatic-I-want-attention-crying-that's-not-really-crying! She'll grow out of soon, right?

Western Carribean Cruise

Or as our cruise director Linda called it a "Cawwibean Cwuise"...

We had a blast on our cruise last week. We boarded the Norwegain Sun on Saturday afternoon after a long night of flying. We took the red eye from Seattle to Miami, luckily my Tylenol P.M. kicked in and I was able to get a little bit of interupted sleep.

The ship was great. We ended up in a room right off the main atrium, which we were nervous about b/c of noise, but it was really well insulated...we couldn't hear a thing once the door was shut (even the late night dance club just around the corner). The room was pretty typical, probably a little bit bigger than any other we've had in the past.

We went with 7 other couples, 5 whom we knew and 2 that we met. It was really fun having people to hang out with. We kind of did our own things (in smaller groups or individual couples) throughout the day, but met up for dinner and entertainment activities later in the evening.

Everyone at dinner...even though you can really only see Chad

Konrad and Darin playing some ping pong

The group developed a love of Karaoke and everyone but Konrad and Bevin sang something. Although Konrad did mention that someone put the microphone in front of his face the last night...does that count???

We particpated in many games. Konrad and I were even on the Not So Newlywed Game...we didn't win, but I think we might have come in second. They actually taped the show and played it over and over and over and over for 3 or 4 days...we were celebraties! We did have to answer some embarrassing questions and I'm sure our friends now know stuff about us that they didn't really want to know (and I'm sure they won't let us forget that they know...). I have to say that the funniest question was about my underwear. They asked Konrad what color my underwear was and what style...lacy/sexy, regular, or granny style...well seeing as most of you reading this wear the same underwear as me, you could have answered that question too. Our friends, especially Mary and Hiroko were laughing so hard and for so long. It was great. No one else really got it (well except for a few other groups of LDS people who we met throughout the cruise that made comments about my white grannies...) but Konrad's answer was white for color and then "granny and then some" for style! Gotta love it!

We had 4 ports of call Honduras, Belize, Cozumel Mexico, and the Bahamas....
*I can not be held responsible for any misspelled words (in the past 5 posts)...my spell check won't work :)

Roatan, Honduras

Our first port of call was Roatan. It was a lot different than any other port I've been to. Very 3rd world. No big touristy shops/malls, no chain stores/restraunts...just a lot of people in very run down houses. It was a big wake up call for what I tend to take for granted. I can't even tell you how many rows and rows of baby clothes I saw hanging on lines to dry...can you imagine? I think having to do an extra load or two with a newborn is bad, but hand washing it? Props to those Honduran women, they are stronger than me!

We rented scooters and toured the island at our own pace. We ended up in a smaller group b/c I was too lazy to get up at the crack of dawn to get off the ship at 8. We probably road a good 30+ miles, so we had a few sore bottoms by the time we were done. We were also pretty wet. We got caught twice in rain storms. All you could do was laugh as water is running down your face and soaking your clothes. Not to mention that fact that rain at 34-40 miles and hour hurts!

We found a nice little restraunt to eat at that was right on the beach. The rest of our group (except for two couples who ditched the scooters early) ended up there. About half the group snorkeled, the rest of us just watched and talked.

At West End in Roatan

We bought big conk shells from these boys...it was fun to watch their selling tactics. Each pointing out what was best about theirs, some blowing in them to make a whistle sound, and others dropping their price. In the end both couples ended up buying from the same kid...he should start selling cars :)

It was a wonderful day!

Belize City, Belize

In Belize we had the opportunity to take a city tour with a guy named Cornell. He did a great job teaching about the country and how it got to where it is today. I didn't really think I'd enjoy the tour much, I'm not much of a look-at-old-buildings-and-learn-about-them-girl, but it was really interesting. I got a better sense of the country we were in and learned things that I'll always remember.

One thing I noticed in Belize is the number of abstinance signs. There are huge billboards up supporting abstinance. Here is one we saw:

I'm not sure if you can make at the picture but there is a scary-dark-devil hanging over a bride and groom, this sign is actually warning about AIDS. Cornell told us that 1/2 the population of Belize is under the age of 18...I'm assuming that's why they are promoting the abstinance thing.

We also drove past a set of missionaries and the LDS church, it was interesting to see a church building in a different country. It was still beautiful...even behind the bars (there were bars, right guys???).

After the tour we went to Cucumber Beach. We ate lunch, played volleyball, and relaxed in the sun. It was a very fun, relaxing afternoon.

(Not the best picture but you get the idea...)

Konrad and Bevin took on 3 local kids in a game of volleyball. I think the kids thought they were playing with a couple pro's. They were pretty impressed with our guys. Angela and I were glad the boys were there to take over...we were to fond of playing with a hard, plastic, water-logged ball. I'm sure they guys were glad too, they got to actually bump, set, and spike!

Of course after the beach we went souviner shopping....

Cozumel, Mexico

We had a great time when we stopped in Cozumel. We had to take a ferry to Playa Del Carmen (sp) which was beautiful (the city not the ferry :)). We then met our tour guide Helaman who took us on a nice charter bus to Tulum, to see the Mayan Ruins. Helaman was LDS and was able to give us the tour from an LDS perspective. It was very interesting.

Our whole group with the Mayan Temple behind us.

An iguana poking his head out the window of the ruins.

This is the view from the back of the Temple, no wonder they built it right there. Notice how beautiful the color of the water is...about 4 shades of blue.

After the tour we raced, literally, back to the ferry (don't buy round trip tickets on a ferry if you aren't 100% sure you'll be back in time....), to go back to Cozumel. Once we were back on the island we had time for shopping. Here we are, with Bevin and Angela, right before we boarded the ship.

We had been to Cozumel with the girls back in May, but this was a completely different experience.

The Last Day - NCL's Private Island in the Bahamas

We spent the last wonderful day on the beach. It started out cloudy, but eventually got really sunny and warm. We spent the first couple hours (at least is seemed that long) playing sand volleyball. It was really fun but the ball killed my arms. I actually quit before Konrad was done b/c my arms were hurting so bad...I found out later that night why (see picture).

The bruises only got worse, it's pretty gross! I did learn that I hit the ball on the wrong part of my arm, which I never realized. Both Konrad and my dad took one look at the biggest bruise and said "That's not where you are supposed to hit a volleyball..." See cruises aren't only fun, they are educational!

After the volleyball we grabbed some lunch then headed into the water to snorkel. I lasted all of about 10 minutes, Konrad not much longer. Konrad and Bevin eventually went back out to investigate the water to see if it was deep enough to jump off the cliff into. They snorkeled around the area, deemed it safe, and then took the plunge (by that time Jim decided to jump in as well). Angela and I were pretty scared for them (or more for us...being widowed on vacation didn't seem all that exciting) but all was well and they came out of it alive. We were glad they didn't want to do it again!

Enjoying our books on the beach...thanks Crystal for letting me borrow Eclipse, although I was terrified the whole trip that I was going to harm it! Luckily it came home in the same condition I borrowed it in!

We really didn't want to leave the beach, so we waited until the last tender (little boat that brings you from the ship to the beach) possible. Here is Tami and I right before we got back on.

We had a blast. I'd go back this second if I could. We're going again in two years...so everyone out there start saving your money and plan your baby-having accordingly so you can all come with us!

Thanks Tami for finding us a great deal and putting so much effort into the planning! You're the BEST!
