First Day Of School

The day finally arrived.  The girls have been counting down.  So excited to go back to school.  So excited to see their friends.  So excited to wear their new school clothes.  So excited to use new supplies.

 I made them reenact the sitting on the curb photo...forgot that it was a backpack view not a front view.  Oops.  Oh well, I think you can still tell the difference that 6 years makes :)

 The craziest part for me was realizing that Kimber and her friends are the oldest in the school now.  I remember, for the past 5 years, thinking that the 6th graders were big crazy scary kids.  Now they seem so sweet and nice.  I might be a tad partial though :)  They were talking about how when they were in Kindergarten they were so scared of the 6th graders.   They said they'd make sure not to scare any little kids.  I hope they can do that! 

Once again, it's awfully quiet in my house.  Konrad worked from home today, so at least I got my lunch date.  Half the ward came to the park this morning as well...so I guess I haven't really had time to be lonely.  One more of those days though....thinking the "I shouldn't be alone today" kind of thoughts.  Life could be so very different!

Here's to another school year.  Go get 'em girls! 

Wild Waves

For the last few years we have gotten season passes for Wild Waves, our local amusement/water park.  We love going there and will continue to get passes. 

I have never taken my camera before b/c I don't want to have to worry about it getting stolen, but this past Tuesday I knew I wasn't getting the water, which meant I wouldn't be walking away from our stuff ever.  So I brought the camera so we could capture some pictures of what we typically spend our summers doing.

 When we started going this summer, back in June, Allison was only 46 inches tall.  You have to be 48 inches tall to ride many of the rides.  We figured she would have to wait until next year to ride the "big" rides.  We were wrong.  She just need to go to Hawaii and grow 2 inches!  She is right at the 48 inch line, so sometimes the workers let her one, sometimes they don't.  If she had thicker soles on her shoes she'd get on every time :)

 Allison LOVES this ride as well...but this time there was a "sorry you aren't quite tall enough" worker there.  So her and Atalie watched together. 

 They all love the scrambler.  They often ride 3 or 4 times in a row (not even having to get off b/c the lines are normally so short)

 I can't even watch them on this one:

 I think the Pirate Ship is their absolute favorite.  This one they will do over and over and over.  They were so excited that Alli is not 48 inches b/c that means she can sit the back row.  If you are shorter than 48 you have to sit in the middle of the ship.

 After lunch (which we eat sitting in the parking lot b/c you can't bring food in the park) we go swimming.  Today we headed right for the wave pool.

 My girls discovered the Activity Pool this year for the first time.  The love it there.  Sam would spend all our "water time" in there if she could.  Lot's of little slides, jumping off cliffs, and just swimming.

This was our first year of doing slides as well.  Sam will go on the green slides and the big orange family slide.  We have yet to convince her to go on the colored tube slides.  We got close this year, she actually carried a tube and made it to the bottom of the stairs.  I'll cross my fingers for next year :)  Alli and Kimber will do any of them.  We like doing them on cloudier days b/c the lines are shorter.  All though standing in line, even if it is short, is freezing on a cloudy day.  Brrr!

Ward Campout 2012

We attended the Crestwood Ward Camp Out the last weekend in August.  We had a blast!  This time we went up for 2 nights...so much better!  I was so glad we didn't get there Friday night, unpack, then pack up again Saturday morning.  Using your stuff for 2 whole days makes it seem worth it :)

I took tons of pictures and tried to narrow it down...which I did, but I doubt you will be able to tell :)

As I neared our tepee the first thing I saw was this cute deer family hanging out on the other side of the bridge.  I tried to show the girls but they were gone by the time we got back. 

 The girls were determined to use the slip and slide that night.  They were the only 3 on it for awhile (until Anna and Viva joined them) and had a blast.  It was FREEZING though.  I had on jeans, 2 jackets, socks, and shoes AND was still shivering.  I don't know how they did it!

 Sam was acting like it was no big deal that the air and water were both freezing and that her hands felt like ice.  She was just chilling in the puddle!

 Tessa was the smart one and stayed dry (not that she was happy about that :))

 After that we layered as many clothes on them as possible.  Sam even wrapped up in her fleece blanket for awhile trying to warm herself up. 

That night everyone that came up for two nights got together for a S'more Party.  Yum!

 Tami organized a "white-trash-tubing-the-river-adventure".  So much fun.  While we were getting in we made quite the scene.  The water was SOOO COLD.  There was a man standing on the shore and he randomly asked if he could take a picture of us (after he had laughed at our very lady-like entrances to the river).  I said sure and then yelled my email address to him as I floated away.  He was nice enough to send me this picture.  Thank you stranger! :)

We survived!  There was only one mishap when Lolly didn't get out in time and basically ran into the log jam.  She had some crazy nice bruises to prove it.  This will have to be a yearly tradition!
