Thanksgiving Weekend Round-Up

I have no pictures to document our weekend, but seeing as though we had a pretty good time, I figured I'd blog about it anyways.  Words only.

Wednesday  We started off the weekend by attending a UW Women's Volleyball game.  So much fun, as always.  I think it is one of the few games that we have seen them lose, but we still had a fun time. 

Thursday  We got a bit of a late start, but joined up with some friends for Katie's Thanksgiving 5K on the Soos Creek trail.  We made the bad decision of having the girls ride their bikes.  The trail is a bit too hilly for Allison, plus it was FREEZING cold and their hands froze.  Had they walked it they would have stayed much warmer.  Note taken. 

Afterward we went home made some hot chocolate and the girls watched the parade on TV.  I made an apple pie for dessert that night and a yummy cheese ball. 

We went to my parents for a couple hours after lunch.  We spent most the time looking through the ads, in preparation for Black Friday, while the kids did something.  Played?  Watched TV?  Who knows!?! :)

We had actual Thanksgiving dinner at the Crabtree's, so we headed over there later in the afternoon.  Konrad's two aunts, two uncles, one cousin (and her boyfriend), and Grandma Crabtree were also there.  Dinner was great.  We played a name game, that thoroughly confused great-Grandma Crabtree (hard to play a game when you can't remember anyones names in real life and then we give them all someone elses name, so when she gets proud of herself for remembering Konrad's name, but then Sara stands up...c.o.n.f.u.s.i.o.n occurs!).  Of course we played "the stick game" - the girls favorite and some Sharp Shooters as well...I am determined to find that game and own it someday soon! 

Friday  I didn't have any real plans for Black Friday shopping.  I didn't plan to be anywhere right when it opened.  I had made a list and figured I'd hit the stores when I woke up and see what was left.  Luckily for me this was still during my wake-up-for-two-hours-in-the-middle-of-the-night-every-night-phase so I woke up at 4:45.  I tried and tried to go back to sleep (like I do every night), but by 5:30 I said I might as well get up and go shopping.  So I was at Kohl's by 6:00.  Then I hit Walmart, Big Lots, Big 5, Fred Meyer, and Target.  All by 9:00.  And up until I hit Target everything on my list was still in the store!  Plus I didn't wait in one line.  After Target I picked up Steph and we headed into the SouthCenter area where we went to Tuesday Morning, Cost Plus, Toys R Us, JCPenny, and Target.  All by 10:45.  We were fast.  By that point I was beyond tired (which was apparently VERY obvious b/c the meanest man in the entire world, who happens to work at Toys R Us, pointed it out OVER AND OVER AND OVER - - -  how tired I looked and how old I was.  He made Steph carry my bag for me b/c I was so OLD and so TIRED.  He assured her that one day, when she was as OLD as me, she would know what it felt like.  IT.  WAS.  AWFUL!!!!)  :)  So anyways...I took Steph back to her car, came home and tried to sleep.  Still couldn't sleep so after an hour of trying I got up and took the girls to the Supermall, as promised.  2 more hours of shopping with them = an even tired-er me. 

At that point I was ready to crawl in bed, but couldn't because we had a date night planned with some friends.  The date was much more fun than sleeping :)  Dinner at Bahama Breeze.  We sat around this huge fire pit and listened to an amazing band play songs that made us feel like we were in the Carribbean.  Then we went shopping at Bell Square, where we bought the most expensive item ever. 

A car. 

Yes a car.  Konrad finally reserved his Tesla and is very excited.  Merry Christmas to him for the next 20 years :)

Shopping was followed by DQ.  Fun times!

Saturday  We woke up and got decorated right away.  Of course we didn't wake up until 10:00, perfect if you ask me!  The house got all Christmas-y and the girls were finally content (we were supposed to do it on Friday but had no time!).  Then we had to celebrate Small Business Saturday and go use our American Express cards to get $25 in free stuff at small businesses around us.  That was fun.  Lunch, bookstore, dry cleaning, and a few games later we headed to my parents for Thanksgiving leftovers (Kimber convinced Grandma and Grandpa that she would rather eat at their house then go out...they were nice enough to say okay).  We spent the evening playing one of our new games, Who? What? Where?, a super fun drawing/guessing game that our friends the Leder's introduced to us last year. 

Sunday  Church, of course.  A lazy family day at home (played our other new game Quirkle).  Then dessert and more games at Steph's house that night. 

See, I told you it was a great weekend!  :)

Check-In with the Crabs

• Saw Wicked in October.  A.M.A.Z.I.N.G.  I love it.  My favorite ever.  I want to go back every time I hear an ad for it.  But then I remember that I'm not made of money.  Boo.  I will take the girls next time, for sure.
• Konrad and I enjoyed a trip to Las Vegas in October as well.  It was 80 degrees and wonderful.  Spent time with Todd, Tiff, and kids...so much fun.  The rest of the time was spent sitting by the pool or watching TV.  We attempted to go to a movie, but I threw up in the parking lot so we just went back to the hotel.  Konrad enjoyed Cafe Rio twice and the Outback (where he downed a huge plate of food and a dessert sampler.  All while I ate a baked potato and some of an awesome blossom (that eventually ended up in the movie theater parking lot)).  It was nice and relaxing and allowed me to sit and do nothing which is about all my body could handle.
• Kimber started attending Young Women's (a program the LDS church offers for youth ages 12-18) and loves it.  She was able to attend the YW temple trip this past week and I was lucky enough to go with her.  So special to have that to do together. 
• I feel like I'm slowly coming out of my pregnant-depression.  That depression that comes on when you are sick and tired and can't eat anything.  My thyroid levels were off, but my meds have leveled it out and I can stay awake now and no longer feel like I need to sleep for 20+ hours a day.  I am on day 5 of not feeling absolutely horrible.  crossing my fingers that continues.  I still stay away from sweets (other than some fruity candy..which normally grosses me out and candy corn), cows milk, and peanut butter (for the most part).  Konrad picked up some vanilla almond milk so that I could eat cereal (a necessity for me when pregnant) and I don't know if I can ever go back to cows milk in my cereal.  Yum.  Now if I can just kick the evil person out of my head that doesn't believe this baby will actually join our family here on earth, I'll be able to say goodbye to the pregnancy-depression for sure, but I have a feeling that little voice is here for the long haul....
• I have printed off 1200 pictures in the past 2 weeks.  All from October 2011 until Kimber's birthday this year.  Two major trips (Costa Rica and Hawaii) equals a TON of pictures.   Now I have to go buy some more photo albums.   
• Allison has become a reader in the past few weeks.  She's been able to read, fairly well, for the past year, but just never loved it.  That has changed now.  She is often found with a book in her hand and keeps good track of her time reading so we can record it on her reading log.  So far she has over 200 minutes for the past week, when she only needs 50. 
• Our ward volleyball team lost on Tuesday...so bummed.  No more volleyball for me.  Missing playing on a city team. 
• I can't believe that Thanksgiving is in two weeks. 
• Loving Gems with Friends.  Fun and addicting. 
• I really want to go on a cruise....

Pretty boring, but that's us. 

Halloween...better late than never!

As always, we had a great Halloween...Sam and Allison took it upon themselves to decorate the house, seeing as their sick and tired mom was not getting off the couch to do such non-sense :)  They had a blast as always.

Family Night
Then there was the horrible moment when I realized "we still haven't carved pumpkins AND Konrad is in Texas!!!!"  Luckily the girls did it almost all by themselves :)

 Notice the yucky moldy pumpkin?  Don't carve pumpkins during the 3rd week of October.  Yuck!  We didn't even get to light the one that Sam and Konrad carved at an Activity Day's activity. 

 No costumes for us at school...so they wore as much Halloween gear as they could.  Including spiders in their hair.

Sam's friend Alissa joined us for trick-or-treating.  We got the girls all dressed up and then headed to Taco Time for dinner.  The sun happened to come out right as we were leaving for dinner so we took some pictures to prove that the sun can shine on Halloween, even in the Seattle area :)  Sam finally got to wear her "real" costume.  She was a faceless person, but this costume couldn't be worn at either the school's Monster Mash or the ward Trunk-or-Treat (no masks allowed).

 Then we noticed a rainbow in the distance...I've never seen one of those on Halloween before! (Can you find Sam???)

 After taking the above picture Sam said "I keep forgetting I don't have to smile!  :)  So then we took a picture of the real Sam :)

 After trick-or-treating we headed over to the Warner's for their annual Donut Party.  They make yummy donuts and invite the world to come eat them.  So fun.  So yummy!  In fact, I attempted to eat one, thinking I'd regret it (b/c I haven't been able to eat anything sweet in 2 months (2 MONTHS PEOPLE)), but I was wrong.  They were so yummy.  Normally one little bite of a sweet would make me feel so sick so quickly, but not the magic donuts.  BUT I did learn that eating too many donut holes (and 1 regular donut) will make a pregnant girl super sick the next day...but at least I got to enjoy them for a night!

Kimber attended a party at a fellow Beehive's house that night...so she didn't get to enjoy the donuts this year...I think she had more fun with those girls though than she would have playing with all the little kids (not that she doesn't love that, but it's nice to talk to people your own age sometimes :)).
