A group of friends, we'll call them the Cafe Rio Club, decided they wanted to take a trip to Wenatchee, just to eat Cafe Rio, swim in a pool, and get some sun.
So we did just that.
We got there on Friday afternoon, swam for a couple hours. Headed across the street to Cafe Rio for dinner. Came back and swam at the hotel. In the morning we swam and then went to Cafe Rio for lunch. We wanted to swim again, but the weather did not cooperate. Boo.
Here are tons of pictures from that trip:
The pool with 3 families in it...2 more were on their way:
This is the picture I tried taking, but Viva realized she was wearing a life jacket and didn't want to be photographed in it:
The picture AFTER she took off the life jacket :)
Time for dinner! We took up half the restaurant!
So excited to dig in!
It was fun to see what everyone loves to eat there and how they eat it (ask Josh and Lolly about how they split their salad...it's pretty fascinating) We also discovered the mint limade (or was it lemonade?). It was very refreshing and yummy. I did think I was drinking toothpaste at first though :) Because we were eating there two days in a row I decided to break away from my normal Cafe Rio (vegetarian burrito, enchilada style with hot sauce) and try the salad. I decided that I love my burrito much more than a salad. I think it is because I don't get any meat and I love the enchilada sauce, so my salad was lacking flavor (other than the yummy dressing, but I make that at home and so it wasn't as special). At least I know now...stick with the burrito.
Tessa loves Cafe Rio beans :)
Back to the pool:
Sam and Sadie showed up in the same swim suit!
The hardest part of the trip was keeping Camryn cool. It was so much easier once the sun went behind the hotel. Then she could spread out and sleep :)
The next morning....
Chris got a workout throwing the kids around:
Rings were tossed and people jumped to catch them.

Those two babies drew lots of attention that weekend. Lucy being as cute as she is and Camryn being so tiny. Everyone had to stop and check them out.

Blake jumping in:
Love these ladies...not sure why they didn't pass on the memo about wearing a black suit!!
And this is why we weren't able to swim after lunch! Torrential down pour. It was crazy. The rain drops were so large and coming so fast that it was bouncing back up a foot or so after hitting the cars and ground. The parking lot was a river/lake.
After eating we attempted to go play at a park, but soon after being there (and playing in the swampy wood chips (my foot sunk a good 3-4 inches while trying to walk through the playground)) we could see another storm coming so we jumped in our cars and got out of there before we were soaked. It was fun to see lightning and hear thunder though.
Some of us met up at a park in Issaquah on the way home, where it was beautiful. Gorgeous mountains on a sunny day, watching para-gliders. Frisbees were thrown and fresh cherries (bought in Wenatchee) were eaten. Perfect way to end a great weekend.
I think I want to go back to Wenatchee in August...anyone want to come???
p.s. Cafe Rio is coming to Bellevue by the end of the year. Pass it on.
p.p.s. Sorry Broadbents....not many pictures of your kids. Not sure what happened! I'll do better next time!
